Heeding Solomon’s Warnings About Adultery
The Book of Proverbs, penned largely by King Solomon, is a treasure trove of wisdom designed to guide us through life. Among its many themes, Solomon devotes significant attention to warnings about adultery and the seductive woman. These passages, particularly found in Proverbs 2, 5, 6, and 7, serve as both a stark warning and a call to live a life of integrity. Guard Your Heart: Lessons on Marriage from Malachi
Marriage is more than a social contract; it is a sacred covenant designed by God. In Malachi 2:15-16, we find profound wisdom about the divine purpose of marriage, the importance of faithfulness, and God’s heart for relationships:
Didn’t the Lord make you one with your wife? In body and spirit, you are His. And what does He want? Godly children from your union. So guard your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth. “For I hate divorce!” says the Lord, the God of Israel. “To divorce your wife is to overwhelm her with cruelty,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. “So guard your heart; do not be unfaithful to your wife.” Continue reading
God’s Plans and Purposes in Human History
In the book of Revelation, we find a striking statement: “For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish His purpose by agreeing to hand over to the beast their royal authority, until God’s words are fulfilled” (Revelation 17:17, NIV). This passage reminds us that God’s sovereignty is unmatched. Even when humanity acts in ways that seem contrary to righteousness, God can use these actions to fulfill His divine purposes. These questions resonate deeply, reflecting our human longing for clarity and control. Yet Proverbs 20:24 offers a sobering yet liberating truth: “The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way?”
